DISOP, Dienst voor Internationale Samenwerking aan
Ontwikkelings Projecten or Organisation for International Co-operation on Development Projects, is a Belgian private non-stock, non-profit organisation established in 1961 and recognised as a Non-Governmental Organisation for Development Aid. In the course of the years, DISOP managed to build up a firm and dynamic supportive group in Belgium as well as in other parts of the world.

DISOP considers itself as:

an instrument of solidarity among nations.
a contribution to the development of less advantaged nations in the world.

DISOP's strategy is based on three pillars:

a relation of confidence, based on the respect for and the capacity of nations to word their own priorities. DISOP's starting point is the local demand.
an integrated approach based on the human being and his (social, economical, cultural and ecological) environment.
the development of networks of exchange of know-how and synergies.

Within the present social framework, characterised by social exclusion, a consequence of the lacking social management of the globalisation and the technological evolution, DISOP's approach is based on the concept of the "employability", the capability of people to practise and to keep practising a job (ILO – Geneva)

DISOP Philippines

DISOP Philippines, is an Agency for International Development, co-financed by the Belgian Government through its Development Aid Fund. It supports community-initiated development programs, which are based on economically sustainable, ecologically sound and gender responsive development efforts. We aim to achieve this through financial assistance and multi-level capability building in partnership with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and people's organizations (POs) with the end-view of improving the quality of life of poor communities.

Since its inception in 1998, DISOP continue to provide direct funding assistance to NGOs and/or POs in the Philippines for community-based development projects aimed at raising the living standards of poor and marginalized Filipinos.

PROGRAM FOCUS

Activities for funding under DISOP Philippines should aim to reduce poverty through employability in a direct and sustainable manner. Prference shall be given to activities, which have as their primary objective and major focus of implementation, one or more of the following:

agriculture development,
income and employment generation,
management of environment and natural resources on a sustainable basis,
micro and small entrepreneurs development,
trainings, strengthening the organization, planning, management and accountability capacities of local NGOs, and
rural and urban poor including the development of basic community serevices and capacity building of community organizations (cooperatives and associations).
